music RoundUp

Here are some thing that we have found interesting over the past week or so…

    • According to CMJ some unreleased Beatles tracks, recorded live in Germany in 1962, have been sold to an entertainment group that plans to release them. These songs are the first recordings that feature then “new” drummer Ringo Starr.
    • Missy Elliott is allegedly reuniting with Timbaland for her upcoming LP that as of yet has no title. The Defsquad pair will reportedly enter the studio soon.
    • Ringo Starr, Liverpool 8 [Video]
“I always followed my heart, and I never missed a beat,” sings Ringo in the chorus of this song. The new video from the aformentioned Beatle drummer. Kinda looks like the guy from The Professional.
    • My Favorite My Morning Jacket have revealed they will release their new, still-untitled album on June 10th. The album will be the band’s first studio release since 2005’s Z (awesome). To mark the event, MMJ will bring their legendary live Performence to New York’s Radio City Music Hall on June 20th.
    • Natashja, “Long Time” [Sly & Robbie’s Dark Shade Riddim]
Sweet, slow-rolling reggae tune; if it were July, we would never stop playing this. It is February, but it has been close to 80 here in California.
    • My fiancé’s favorite Eels are using an unorthodox way of advertising their new rarities collection Useless Trinkets: by buying ad time during the Super Bowl. Unfortunately, the band only has enough money to purchase a one-second commercial. They should be able to score more than the team that ends up playing the Pats.
