One of NME’s 50 Music Pioneers New Album Released

The NME have recently voted Adem one of the top 50 musical pioneers in the world at the moment. How come nobody knows who he is? You can catch a performance of hotellounge www.NME.com (click on media player then click next a few times as it’s been there for a bit).
Adem’s new record, Takes is out! At least in shops accross the pond. Here in the US will have to wait a couple of weeks for the physical releaseon June 3rd courtesy of Domino Records.

Takes is his third solo album and it is an exploration of some of his many influences. It’s a record of versions of some of the music he was into from 1991 to 2001; this is where his musical taste became “fully formed” according to him. Unlike his previous two records, Takes was recorded in a studio (Miloco) with the help of a slew of gorgeous equipment and instruments. He took tracks that had a huge influence on his life; played them as if they were his own, portrayed them in such a way as to make the link between the original and his music.

The tracklisting is:
01 Bedside Table – Bedhead – 7” single 1992 (+the end of the day (beheaded1996))
02 Oh My Lover – PJ Harvey – Dry 1992
03 Slide – Lisa Germano – Slide 1998
04 Loro – Pinback – Pinback 1998
05 Hotellounge – dEUS – Worst Case Scenario 1994
06 To Cure A Weakling Child + Boy/Girl Song – Aphex Twin – Richard D James 1996 mp3 here
07 Tears Are In Your Eyes – Yo La Tengo – And Nothing Turned Itself Inside Out 2000
08 Starla – Smashing Pumpkins – I am one 7” b-side 1992. (+Window Paine from Gish 1991)
09 Gamera – Tortoise – Gamera 12” 1995
10 Unravel – Björk – Homogenic 1997
11 Invisible Man – The Breeders – Last Splash 1993
12 Laser Beam – Low – Things We Lost In The Fire 2001
His Myspace has some samples on it.

This under-the-radar record will be released on Compact Disc and gorgeous heavy double vinyl gatefold. You’ll also be able to download it from the normal places. You can download it from the source here: Domino Records.

Adem also has a series of very special shows coming up with an amazing lineup, featuring a fantastic array of instruments and the biggest band he has ever had. The guest musicians are all awesome and have their own bands and projects too numerous to list here on eargoggles.
May 17th ATP – curated by Explosions in the sky
May 20th Leeds (Supported by the Wonderful Nancy Elizabeth)
May 24th Brighton (Again, supported by Nancy Elizabeth)
May 25th London (very special guest support)
May 27th Liverpool (performing a special stripped down show, with the excellent Laura Marling supporting).

Live in New York? Check out a solo performence at Brooklyn Union Hall on the 10th June. It’s going to be super intimate and sell out quickly.

This album would make an excellent mixtape, muxtape, or playlist. Just think how good Adem’s intrepitation is going to be.
